Brick
When you choose brick as your stoop and step material, you will enjoy a long-lasting and elegant finish on your structure. Bricks have been known to last upwards of 50-100 years with proper maintenance.
Along with a long lifespan, bricks are resistant to deterioration from water, weathering or even foot traffic. The only thing that fails on brick is the mortar holding them together but it can easily be repaired.
Flagstone
Besides the attractive aesthetic of a natural flagstone step and stoop, natural stone is one of the most durable building materials on the market, on par with concrete structures!
But one of the biggest advantages of using flagstone on stoops and steps is the natural cleft texture of the stone which can provide a slip and skid-resistant surface even when it is wet or soiled.
Paver/Block
One of the biggest reasons why pavers are used in the construction of steps and stoops in the endless amount of paver options on the market. From brick pavers to concrete pavers, endless designs can be achieved.
Pavers are also extremely simplistic to maintain when paired with our high-performance sealer that will help block stains, mold, and mildew to provide a maintenance protocol of sweeping and spraying with water when necessary.
Masonry Repair
Even though masonry is a durable and long-lasting material, it has one big weakness, the mortar joints. Mortar joints are nowhere near as durable as the stone they support and over time, weathering, water corrosion, and traffic will wear through the mortar. We offer 2 solutions to damaged mortar, tuckpointing, and repointing.
Tuckpointing is for mortar joints that have tiny holes in the exterior surface or in the beginning stages of wear. We use a mortar filler to seal the mortar joints and prolong its service life. Repointing, on the other hand, is for the mortar that has chipped away or has large areas missing. We chip away at the mortar joints and replace them with new material, restoring structural integrity to the structure.
Concrete Repair
Just like natural stones in masonry, concrete is a very durable material that offers splendid service life and durability but it also has a weakness that is exploited during the change of the seasons. Concrete is vulnerable to freeze and thaw cycles of Summer into Autumn, producing nasty cracks.
